| I traded for and old Emmons PP.One leg is loose where it screws into the guitar.There was a thread about the best way to repair this.I can't remember who participated in the thread so my search took me no where.Anyone remember this? Thanks ------------------bb |

On my Pro III, the female threads in the end plate were stripped. There's not much meat on the ends of the legs. I sawed the end off flat, took a bolt that went a little deeper in the threads, welded it on the end of the leg, and ground the hex head smooth. On the 'Bud, there were a lot more threads in the cabinet than there were on the end of the leg. It's worked for mre than 10 years.
There are things called "Time Serts" (tm) that are like helicoils but are thicker and much more solid, and lock in much better. I'm sure a google search would turn up a good source.
Steel galls aluminum when you screw it in and out. A cheap tube of copper looking anti-seize should be used if you take it down a lot. |
