i just bought one at a garage sale- A hand built and wired, "boutique" tube amp for blues harp guys,, some guy named Rock Bottom used these for years, Never heard of him, but he was suppossed to be a blues harp legend.. Very very nice amp, and sounds great with guitar.. I have no idea what its worth, but I did see one or 2 sell used at close to $600.. I would ask only a fraction of that, but don't want to get too stupid about it, and sell the amp for 1/10 what its worth.. anyone have ANY info on these amps made in sarasota Fl?... any help would be appreciated.. There is not a whole lot of information on the web that I can find... bob

These are high-quality harp amps - here's the website for them - http://www.harpgear.com/ - and the page for that particular amp is here - http://www.harpgear.com/hurricane.html. Current design is 15 watts into 2x8" Weber speakers.

Typical 'harp mods' of a tweed or blackface Fender for harp - a bit more midrange & bass, relatively small speakers (typically 8" or 10"), a 'browner' sound designed to break up early but still have a sound that doesn't fall apart. There are several makers who have done harp amps in this general style over the years, I know some harp players that use amps like this, and have played some - not this particular model though.

Every harp amp I've tried in this style has also been great for slide guitar. In fact, I'm playing so much slide guitar right now - if you decide to sell this, lemme know.

Dave.. mine is much different.. Mine is the original design, from the 90's and is 1 6V6-1 12AX7 and 1 5Y3 GT rectifier and an 8 inch Jensen in a super old timey cabinet, Very cool and the sound is killer..
That webpage you posted is for Hurricane's current designs I think..
Mine is similar to this.. same shape...

However mine is all lacquered wood with a cool wood handle...
Get in touch, we'll talk swap, I have no use for it... bob

I play harmonica and tried one of these briefly years ago. They were made by a guy in Florida. It's a hand wired high quality amp that is probably a tweed Princeton (Champ with tone control) inside. It is intended for harmonica and likely has circuit tweaks that make it dark sounding for guitar. The changes are typically higher value cathode bypass and coupling caps, omission of cathode bypass caps and reduced preamp plate voltages. I don't know if this is a point to point or circuit board amp. A tech could change the harp amp tweaks to guitar friendly pretty easily. The amp needs to be miced for most gigging.
