Charles I certainly agree with you that is the sound I love to hear too.
Here is another tune Junior knocks out of the park!
There are many great steel players in Texas and Junior can hang with the best of them! Smile

Did Junior EVER play in Hank Thompson's road band back in the 1950's or thereabouts?

I recall PeeWee Whitewing came thro' the area and my rapidly dwindling memory tells me that Junior at one time toured here to Oregon.

Am I correct or horribly wrong?

Junior was 10 years old and less in the 1950s.

I've known Jr. for almost 40 years, but I think that last Sunday I put the biggest smile on his face I've ever seen.

He found out I'm 2 years older than he is. He got a great deal of enjoyment from that.

Two fairly recent recordings with Junior on steel can be obtained from Jody Nix at jody nix.com . Twin Fiddles Turn Me On and Bright Lights and Country Music. These are great works of Junior and really exhibit his command of the instrument. What a player! Randall

I followed Jr. Knight every Saturday back in the 1970's on the Cowboy Weaver show. All I ever heard was Jr. playing steel. He knows that I got in trouble as a teenager listening to him play on that show. Great player and what a first class guy as well.

I've always said since the very first time I heard Junior play, his playing is always fresh and new and always puts a smile on my face and I see it does many others. He is that way live on in the studio. He is the best of the best and I just wish I didn't have to copy his recordings he does up here in Texarkana when the one he recorded for sings on our show, lol. Junior, you make it tuff on an old guy.
