I have a S10 Discovery. I changed out the pickup and put in a George L 10-1. Didnt like the sound so now Im trying to get the original pickup back in. I put it back in and ran the white wire to one side of the jack. I ran the bare wire to the other side and added another wire and ran it down to a screw. (thats how I remember it coming off). Started to restring and decided to see if it worked. It was cutting in and out real bad. So I pulled the jack and hooked my tuner to it...if I jiggle the wires the tuner says on. If I shake the jack the tuner cuts out.

Do I have this thing wired correctly?

Does it matter which posts on the jack the wires are connected to?

Could I have messed up the jack while trying to solder on it?

Never soldered before ( and by the looks of it I can scratch that off my things I want to do for a living list Very Happy ) I put the wires thru the holes..twisted them around the posts and them put some solder on it. Feel free to point out if I did something wrong.

Thanks for any advice.

At least one of your joints is bad. With only one pickup, polarity doesn't really matter.
Did you use flux? It REALLY helps make a bond.

Thanks Lane

I believe your right. I finally found a youtube video that shows how the soldering should have been done. Apparently the only thing I got right when I did it was plugging in the iron and not burning the house down.
