I signed up to go to a David Lindley clinic at the Fur Peace Ranch this weekend. Unfortunately major back surgery derailed those plans. The clinic requirements were to bring a hollow neck weissenborn or a acoustic with nut extender as a minimum. I was already in the process of having this built with Rance at Lazy River. I'll be ready to go next year if David comes back. I located the Koa billet from Joel Stehr via another build that didn't materialize. Heres a few pics with one coat of shellac before Rance does a vintage lacquer job on it. It will have an ebony fingerboard with maple fret marker and abalone dots.
Coming along nicely! Thats some sweet koa.

That's beautiful Steve! Drag to have to miss the Fur Peace weekend - I hope it works out for you next year.

Love to see some pics Matthew. I would be interested to see your choices on binding/ purfling etc. I had a hard time choosing. In the end I went with the ebony for contrast with the Koa. I was going to do abalone purfling but at $3 an inch I decided to stick with my somewhat minimalist approach. I'm glad I did. I have great respect you men who can turn this into that.
