I was give a bunch of new original A/B pots. I thought I hit the jackpot but it turns out these are all 1k ohm. The serial ID on them is - JAINI00PI02DA Type J. I have read somewhere that the lower the number the more treble is allowed through, or something to that effect. Any advice would be most appreciated. Best Regards. |

Hi Zeke,
While they may be excellent pots. . . for some purpose, they would effectively kill any signal coming out of a high impedance guitar pickup. There have been many times when I wish I had a 1000 Ohm pot, but not around a guitar.

Its time we loose all resistive attenuation and move to voltage controlled pre amps
the pots would only attenuate the out put of the pre amp not the signal coming from the guitar .. Like the Goodrich or Hilton pedals do .. some amps are already doing that .. does any one know which use this method? |

Zeke . I don't know if even the ones that are supposed to be right are. I bought a brand new Goodrich l20 a month ago. and had to put a new pot in it 2 days ago . I really do hope they last more than 3 weeks to a pot. _________________ D10 Carter, SD10 Mullen .Nashville 400,. peavey 112 Boss DD3., RV5, |

Scott, many of us LIKE resistive attenuation, preferring to keep the signal chain simple. My best sounding rig is axr-120-Twin _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects |
