OK. I ordered some cable to make a 1/4 TS to 3.5mm TRS cable. I'll be using this to connect the line out on my Cube 80XL to the Aux In on the second Cube 80XL.

I'm using Canare L-4E6S Star-Quad Microphone Cable and right angle 1/4 and 3.5mm plugs.

I think I need the TRS on the 3.5 end due to the way the jack is configured in that it sums stereo to mono at the jack.

I'm just not sure what I need to solder to what on each end. Do I ignore the extra connections and just strip them back and isolate them?

Could one of you electronics gurus help me out?

Canare Star Quad is magic cable. To take advantage of the magic, you use both white wires together as one and both blue wires together as one. Even though there are 4 conductors, they are intended to be used as only 2.

So I should wire the white and blue as one then follow this diagram to wire the two connectors. From output to input it would be Tip-Tip. Sleeve and Ring combined - Ring and Sleeve. Substituting of course the 1/4 for 3.5 plug on the input.

If the 3.5mm end sums then you want the ring to be the same as tip... If you ground the ring then the signal will be attenuated.

3.5 tip and ring to 1/4in tip. 3.5 sleeve to 1/4in. Sleeve.
