First off you should know I have the goodrich h10k model. Any problems doing this? I think proco has one of these power supplies. Only pedal have right now. Wanted to post to see if someone's done it before I call goodrich to ask. _________________ Keenan Friday

Goodrich is basically closed due to prolonged illness (and the company is up for sale). A 9V DC adapter would work. However, as the batteries in most Goodrich devices last a long time I wouldn't consider using a power supply.
I have a Goodrich MatchBro, which probably has more electronics in it than other Goodrich products and the batteries (it uses two different voltages) will last at least a year under normal use and unplugging the input jack for prolonged non use times. |

I agree with Jack. A good 9 volt battery will last about a year. Even if you leave it plugged in all the time, you can get about 6 months of battery life.
You'll know when it needs to be replaced because you'll hear some faint distortion starting...nothing too severe, but noticeable. I always carried a spare 9v. in my seat and would change it out on a break, or after the gig. Not a problem at all.
A 9v. adapter would be much more troublesome with the extra wire laying around, and the chance of someone tripping on it. _________________ Best regards,

Jack and Mike are correct.
If I may add. . . unless it's a very well designed power supply, it will probably introduce hum to the signal, especially at this low level point in the chain. There are some excellent long-life batteries around these days. If you really want to go all-out, you could get a 9 volt ten-year lithium smoke alarm battery.

the h10k pedal needs nothing. battery lasts forever. best pedal out there. i recommend it to everyone.
part of it's beauty is 'not' needing a power supply. |

Maybe I just had a dud battery but I left input jack connected even when not playing and my 9v lasted me like 3-4 months tops. I agree Chris love pedal. Only thing that would make it better for me is for someone to install a on-off switch like the matchbox so I can leave it plugged in 24-7. Wonder why they never thought of that? I hate setup time even if it is a few more seconds. _________________ Keenan Friday

I've installed power on/off switches in all my Goodrich devices (and installed switches for some others with MatchBro's). I could never understand why Goodrich didn't install them. The price for the extra switch is relatively small.
I had a 10K volume pedal but I don't know if there is room to install a small on/off switch. I don't remember if it has two output jacks, if it does the second jack could be replaced with a power switch. |

I have 2 H10K's. I use fairly cheap batteries and make sure I unplug when not in use and I get 3 or 4month's out of them. A small Phillips screw driver and a extra batter takes about 3 or 4 minutes to change out. _________________ Justice S10 Jr, Gibson Electra 6string, Boss Katana 100, Steelers Choice ,Gretsch 6 string lap, Hilton VP |
