The sound...the sustain...it's like it went in every direction and would continue to do so if WD hadn't stopped. That was a superb demonstration of a "great guitar and amp". I'd like to hear that stuff in the front row. |

funny you mention that, because in the "lack of love thread" the trend seemed to be that the audience would never know the difference which amp was used _________________ Milkmansound.com |

Yeah, there are some who actually believe that. I, for one, don't. I agree the audience won't know "what" is causing the sounds they hear, but they ABSOLUTELY DO notice what pleases their ears. Getting a sound that they like is the whole goal, or should be. So, if some boutique amp gets you there, more power to you. If wrapping tin foil around the amp handle gets you there, go for it.
The audience won't care one bit HOW you do it, just THAT you do it for them.

Tim, is that a head version of the 85 Watt steel amp? Do you have a spring reverb tank in that head? _________________ To write with a broken pencil is pointless. |

I think an audience that is paying attention would. As much as I really like the videos from past steel guitar conventions that members post (big thankyou!), that Peavey sound does get old after a while when every single player is going through the same sound. My ears get fatigued just thinking about it.
