Where is good place to install an external speaker jack on the amp.
I don't want to add the jack and then realize something I missed.

What do you want to do with the jack? The amp is not designed to use an additional external speaker and doing so may cause it to fail.
If you want to have a jack so you can use an external speaker in place of the internal then that is different. It could be placed in the bottom back piece and then wired so the internal speaker is normally connected and when you plug in an external speaker it disconnects the internal speaker. You will have to lengthen the current speaker wires as they are too short to reach the bottom. |

I'm not going to use the internal speaker, only the external.
I thought to mount on the top side through the 3/4" wood, so I could use the bottom of the amp for cords without damaging the jack. Also, placing the jack on the back near floor level may also invite an unwanted foot stepping the 1/4" sticking out.
Still undecided. |

If that's what you want to do, I would replace the current speaker connection with an inline jack and plug. That way, you (or anybody else) would have to unplug the internal speaker to hook up the external one. If inline is too floppy for you, I would add a little jack panel below the existing jacks. The plug would not have to point out the back.

That is what I'm doing, except I'll use slip on clips, the same type that are currently attached to the speaker. I'll just unclip from the extension jack and reattached to the internal speaker if I don't want to take the cab.
So, where to best attach this jack with respect to the notes from posts above?

I would put the jack in the metal part of the amp, then put a short speaker cable with angle plug on the internal speaker. _________________ Amateur Radio Operator NA4IT (Extra)

I may, in fact, be nuts. However, I am screwed onto the right bolt... Jesus! |

Here's my idea...
Get a piece of right angle aluminum about an inch and a half wide from a hardware store (trim as needed). Drill a hole in it for a standard 1/4 inch jack and mount the jack in it. Drill 2 small holes in the other side of the angle for mounting it to an inside wall of the amp. Solder the existing speaker wires to the jack, and mount the "L" jack inside the amp.
Make up a short speaker cord, with a 1/4 inch plug, to go from the speaker to the new 1/4 inch jack.
Now when you want to use an external cab, just unplug the internal speaker plug and insert the external cab's plug. Done.
Doing this preserves the resale value of the amp. A couple small screw holes on the inside cab wall won't even be noticeable. _________________ Best regards,

Great idea Mike, I have 2 speaker cabs I could use for testing out diff speakers while leaving the Nash 112 intact especially if you have a couple weekends sit down gig, I love plug-n-play _________________ Rittenberry SD10, 2 nashville 112s with telonics speaker, behringer EPQ450 power amp, 705 pups, Telonics FP-100, live steel strings, mogami cords, wet reverb |

I built my Bandit into a head cab, and merely attached the speaker leads to a 1/4 jack mounted into a hole drilled just to the outside of the heatsink.

I got it done.
Got a Telonics 15 from Jim Palenscar in 4 days.
Big difference with a 15.
