Here is Michael James tuning doing an old standard from the Perry Como, Frank Sinatra days.
Six string lap steel F--D--B--G--E--C
Sounds like a pedal in play in a few spots but it is one fret bar slanting. Dropping the root tone of major triad a half tone. I like the tuning very much for stuff like this.
If I called this tuning Cmaj11 ..it would get lost in the host of others. I think Michael, the author deserves the recognition and will continue to call as such whenever I use it.

Hmmm. ... Not to be argumentative but his tuning is the last six of mine.
Secondly although it's tradition I was thinking what name is the Guitar's tuning? None it's just a standard.
Thirdly i can't call it the James tuning for my 8/10/12 string as I too have put in the time creating it.

But by all means it's your choice to call it whatever tuning you want but I for one wouldn't discredit my own work.

Ta.

Hmmm...

Not really to be honest usually I'm quite chilled out but just wanted to be clear before I hear silly things like my tuning which I developed is the "James extended tuning".

Would rather be clear now than muddy up FACT. My tuning is called the "Theory Tuning" based around the guitar utilising the treble clef. That's how it came about. Eventually ending up in a CM13 with a little change up on the first few strings.

So I apologise if it came across a little aggressive. That's not me. Just wanted to make sure that there would be no confusion later on.

I'm sure James would understand.
Lo - Hi
C, E, G, B, D, F, A, C, D, E, G, A - "Theory Tuning"

C, E, G, B, D, F -CM11 - "Jame's Tuning"

See the issue.

Cool

Hi Mike!
"Yes" to adding my work to your Web Site, both the tablature and the sound clip.
I have been over there and it's coming right along.
It would be nice to have the sound for the notation and tab also. Perhaps you have that planned for the future as time permits?
Good work and keep it up. Smile
