Heard Buddy Charleton and Leon Rhodes on the Opry last night. They were running some archived programs and when Jean Shepard sang, there was no mistaking the music of Buddy and Leon backing her. Later during the program Leroy Van Dyke's "Auctioneers" played 4-wheel drive. Not sure, but betting it was Herby Wallace. It was a great rendition and working with Leroy Van Dyke was one of Herby's first road jobs. Anybody else hear the show?
Wish the Opry would sell their microphones on ebay and just play old tapes.

I love the old stuff too. But there's still a lot of good stuff on the Opry now too.
I can think of many great, working musicians, on this forum and elsewhere, that would strongly disagree with you, including a few of the most highly respected steel-players anywhere. |

Pete,
You're probably correct, and that's probably true, but then you should see some of the mistakes I make.
