I just finished my third gig with my new Telonics TCA-500 Combo amp and I am stoked! I received my amp last week and had a dance gig Saturday and a "Quattro de Mayo" outdoor party Sunday. Yesterday I had a session using the amp (and going direct). The engineer and producer were very complimentary of my tone and clarity of this great amp.

One of the unique things about this Telonics amp is its flexibility. It has plenty of power, numerous selection of ins and outs for different situations, effects control, and all of this in a solid, lightweight cabinet. In addition, the controls are thoughtfully laid out and everything is placed so it just makes sense.

With adjustments to the bass, mid, and treble controls I found a tone that was warm, clear, punchy, and bold. But what I found extremely useful was the "Blend" control. Even though my 3 gigs this weekend were all in different environments I was able to capture the same tone at each job by varying the Blend control only. I never changed my basic settings on any of the gigs. Amazing! That Blend control is a powerful tool that I've not had on any of my other amps....ever!

I want to thank Dave Beaty and his team for continuing to develop products for the "working" musician. I have no doubt that this amp will serve me well and my quest for "that sound" is now in my hands. Even though it weighs just a shade over 30 pounds the amp sounds like a real "heavyweight".

I have not had the opportunity to plug in to one but I sure like what I see.

I hope that Dave and his gang will be in St. Louis this year.

Dave is one smart cookie.

Hello All;
I can guarantee you that Tommy will put the amp thru all of its paces.
Don't baby it at all Tommy -
kick it in the rear end & see what it can do.
These babies are built tough so lay into it
every time you get the chance.

Sid, sad to report Telonics will not be in St Louis
this year but maybe one of the players who already own one of the Telonics combo amps will be there.
I do not think they would mind you trying it out.

How about it - any Telonics combo amp owners going to St Louis this year & taking your gear?
Maybe you would let Sid set down and play with it a little?
Thanks ... Ron

We need to turn the TWANG up a little

Hey Tommy your dead right about the TCA-500, I bought mine back from Dallas and have played quite a few different style gigs - and also a session with it. It has been outstanding everytime ....and I have done a couple of flying gigs with it as well so the lightweight is perfect for that ....off to Norfolk Island with it on sunday so more flying --- and a week long festival.
I have been using it just with the built-in digital reverb and it is very very good. Will probably stick a Lex in there as well and see how that goes.

Sid,
You sat on mine at the last convention. You could have plugged right into it. I love it man! Dave is also one nice guy to deal with. Best amp available in my opinion. All you need to do is pick one up to see how light it is and play your Emmons through one! I can give you the number to order one! Very Happy
So easy to get the sound you want anywhere. Hope your doing good. Still loving those live steel strings!

Tommy you are so right about that blend control. I've been using Telonics stuff for a while now and I hardly have to move anything but the blend control for different venues.
