My friend of 30 some years, Mark Simpson bought this Emmons guitar brand new at the end of 1978. He's a very prominent local player, so this guitar has had a lot of use through the years. He's been thinking about having me restore it for several years now but finally decided to have the work done. I finished it up a couple of days ago and he came by to pick it up this afternoon. He's very attached to this Emmons and for sure this was a very emotional reunion for him. Our mutual friend, Larry Behm decided to stop by and surprise Mark, as he's known him even longer than I have.

My friend, Bob Littleton did the lacquer work on the cabinet and as usual did an outstanding job! He even built Mark a beautiful new case for the guitar.

Mark asked me to post this, simply because he just doesn't know how to post photos here, so I told him I'd be happy to do it.

Thanks for looking, on behalf of Mark.

This guitar looks like a million bucks thanks to Bob and Lynn. Mark was speechless, so since he had nothing to say I left! No really we stayed and talked for a while. Next!

Now that is an astounding piece of work Lynn. Must be one of the most beautiful push pulls in existence. You are a great technician Lynn, and Bob is a great finisher.

Lynn had the guitar covered with a black sheet when I walked into his living room. He asked if I was ready for this. I thought I was.He pulled that sheet off and my breath was taken away.then one of my oldest dear friends , Larry Behm, walked out of a side room....end of story ...tears started rolling. I love the guitar , Bob got it just right....kind of old school , shobud look. Can't wait to show it offa duffs this weekend.this guitar means the world to me and Lynn Stafford was the only one I trusted to work on it.

Thanks again to my good friends...Lynn Stafford and Bob Littleton

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!

Mark and I picked up our brand-new D10 Emmons' at the Portland airport on the same day in 1978. His was a beautiful blue sunburst, and pretty though it was, it never looked this good. Kudos to Lynn + Bob and congratulations to Mark

Astonishing is definately the right word. The colors in the natural wood to burst just pass through all the sweet spots as far as coloration is concerned.

I'm not a student of refinishing, but curious to know how deep you have to sand original finish off to be able to restain and relacquer it?

Authorized or not, this is some great work by someone who really cares about his customers. Just saying.

The 'authorised' tag is complete nonsense. Lynn and Billy Knowles have both amply demonstrated on this forum that they are both capable of carrying out extraordinary work on the push pull Emmons guitars that have long passed their warranty period. Just look at this guitar of Mark Simpson's. It is breathtakingly beautiful, and I think it is great that there are master craftsmen around of Lynn and Billy's standard. Mark's guitar is almost certainly better now than it was when new.
