Hello this is my first post! I just bought my first lap steel. A 1947 National New Yorker. I am looking for the nameplate on the headstock. I would like to make it as authentic as i can and it didn't come with one when i bought it. I also need a case for it the dealer didn't have one of those either! I tried calling National Reso-Phonic and they sent me pictures of the nameplates they have but they were not period correct. Help a brother out! Thanks all!
Please any help would be greatly appreciated. This is the nameplate I am looking to purchase.
Sincerely,
Todd |

Hi Todd,
Funny - my first lap steel was also a 1947 National New Yorker, without the National badge and without a case.
Old National logo plates sometimes appear on eBay, but they usually go for more than one would like to pay for a small piece of metal.
Cheers,

Those are impossible to find easily. I wish you luck, but it's going to take more than a week to find something like that if it isn't already attached to a different lap steel. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

That National logo will probably cost you at least $500.00. A value-added added attraction is there's liable to be a guitar attached to it.
Your best bet may be an approximation from National Resophonic. Good luck in your quest! |

Could someplace that does metal work or a trophy store make a repro? |
