Hello this is my first post! I just bought my first lap steel. A 1947 National New Yorker. I am looking for the nameplate on the headstock. I would like to make it as authentic as i can and it didn't come with one when i bought it. I also need a case for it the dealer didn't have one of those either! I tried calling National Reso-Phonic and they sent me pictures of the nameplates they have but they were not period correct. Help a brother out! Thanks all!

Please any help would be greatly appreciated. This is the nameplate I am looking to purchase.

Sincerely,

Todd

Hi Todd,

Funny - my first lap steel was also a 1947 National New Yorker, without the National badge and without a case. Smile

Old National logo plates sometimes appear on eBay, but they usually go for more than one would like to pay for a small piece of metal.

Cheers,

Fredrik

Those are impossible to find easily. I wish you luck, but it's going to take more than a week to find something like that if it isn't already attached to a different lap steel.

That National logo will probably cost you at least $500.00. A value-added added attraction is there's liable to be a guitar attached to it.

Your best bet may be an approximation from National Resophonic. Good luck in your quest!

This project may have what you need and it will be the cheapest way out.

Could someplace that does metal work or a trophy store make a repro?
