They are good. Interesting stuff. I looked further and there is some stuff on YouTube from Music City Roots. A nice version of Linus and Lucy where the steeler is playing Sho Pro and getting a nice almost Lloyd Green with Don Williams sound. He is also very good at a variety of effects. I want to hear more of these guys.

I really like them!
They consist of two main persons, Jeremy Fetzer, Telecaster and Spencer Cullum Jr, Steel Guitar.
Jeremy is from Ohio and Spencer from Essex UK.

Steelism is awesome! Spencer is a killer steel player and a good dude. I think they're currently working on a new record. You can hear/see spencer with Johnny Fritz (formerly Johnny Corndawg) and Caitlin Rose, among others. He works a lot with a nashville engineer named Eric Masse at his studio called the casino.
I wish all the guys complaining that there are no young steel players would actually leave their homes and go see some of us young players like Spencer play!!! |

I think it's great ! Young guys playing good with a great band name and the Steel as part of the main act...now if only they could write another "Sleepwalk" and shake things up globally !

| I saw/heard them about a month ago at SXSW. They were on the big stage at Joe's Coffee and they wowed the crowd. When I first passed by I thought they sounded like a Grateful Dead, jam band. As I got closer, I realized this was a great band and lots of people had their phones out recording. Their set was actually better sounding than some of the YouTube vids I watched later. They did "Apache" (a la the Shadows) and a great reggae version of the Beatles "Something" with the steel player playing the melody thru a tube/voice device like Joe Walsh used. The were a wonderful surprise to hear some young guys who could really play and not just posture as most SXSW bands do. The steel player emceed the group and sounded great. |
