Two of my strings vibrate and rattle at the roller nuts. Do I need to replace them or is their away to prevent this happening? Thank you. _________________ LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN GEORGIA |

Two suggestions....1 - put a small drop of oil on the roller shaft. 2 - wind the string onto the tuner peg at a slightly greater angle to put a little sideways tension on the roller...too much angle could make it bind, though. _________________ Best regards,

You might also try loosening both strings and rotating the roller nuts a quarter turn each. I perform this procedure (on all 10) each time that I change strings to prevent excessive wear or grooves in one spot on the rollers. |

What kind of guitar? This is a known problem on some Sho-Bud's. I've seen several posts about winding the "bad" strings under on the tuning keys rather than the usual top.
Paul Franklin, Sr. told me he fixed the problem when he worked at Sho-Bud by using one gauge roller instead of the gauged rollers that Sho-Bud had been using. He said eventually Sho-Bud switched to the one gauge for the roller nuts. He told me what gauge roller was used but I don't remember. My Franklin only has one gauge rollers, a carry over from his fix for Sho-Bud. |

A drop of oil will cure the problem...no need to do anything else. |

I had this problem and solved it by welding the tractor seat to a cut down shock spring. IT worked GREAT! I could stay on the tractor all day long, and it didn't bother my nuts at all! ........................
