Wow!, talk about history! I remember seeing this guitar,or one just like it,at the Texas Steel Guitar convention in 1969. Chuck Wright was the builder and chief architect of this steel,and I think Tom Bradshaw was the designer of the Brad's Rack. Buddy Emmons' album,"Emmons Guitar Inc.",had just been released and had everybody's attention.
Maurice Anderson would probably be able to give more history on this beautiful instrument. This was a very highly advanced design for its' time. I'm thrilled to see it in such good condition!

This guitar was built in Dallas I believe, while my Dad was with M.S.A.....Heavey????understatement!!!!!!! best find help to carry it in..

| Makes me think of my 67 Sierra. I had Chuck chrome plate the Bradsrack and it fitted into two cases and both were heavy. The body was metal alloy and went crazy with temperature changes. Drove in the heat to a place to play, car had no air. Went into the building and sat it over an air conditioning duct and never could find my tuning. Needless to say, nobody could hear me but I looked like a million bucks. Heavy? I could write a book on being able to lift weights and play them afterward. David is right(Wright)better bring a friend along. |

| After reading about Tom's rack back in 2000 when I got some of the old Steel Guitar Player mag back issues (from tom, who else).. I thought about the Rack and wondered if 30 plus years of industrial refinement would make it possible for a lightweight and inexpensive version of it? |

my first guitar was a MSA on a Bradsrack, I reallyed wondered what Tom was smokeing and what my Dad was drinking the day they got togather to put a guitar on top of one of these racks...  ont thing, that guitar never moved when you played it..and you knew it was a Sierra when you sceen it!!!

I always liked the appearance of the Bradsrack and felt it made a real classic
addition to the "look" of the steel guitar.
Like b0b suggested Carbon Fibre construction would take care of the weight factor. |

There were two models of the Brad's Rack.

There were two models of the Brad's Rack.
One was the more popular "Z" rack.
Do you remember the Concord model?.
It reminded me of my Mothers old pedal (treadle) sewing machine.
A Tom Bradshaw catalog from the 60's will show the two racks.

You are correct.
It must have gotten it's name either from Concord, CA. or Concord grapes. Perhaps both.

Carbon schmiber. I want a brads rack made out of lead, and a cabinet made out of marble, and a wrought iron flight case to put it in.
And a roadie.

The grape design, when I saw a pic of it, the first thing I thought was how it looked like the legs of a vintage sowing machine.
