If you want to see what kind of great music a lap steel guitar is capable of producing, I'd suggest you visit the JERRY BYRD site, on the MUSIC page.

It's a great vocal by Bob Eaton entitled "Somebody's Been Stealing my Sweet, Sweet Sugar". Jerry does some fabulous back-up and solo work on this old fashioned song. I feel this is an exceptional example of Jerrys' artistry.
Let me know what you think of it. |

Great tune! Thanks for posting. Do you know when it was recorded? |

Back in those olden days, there was very little information that was circulated about recording dates, bands, etc. Had it not been for Country Song Roundup, a popular magazine of the time, we'd have been totally in the dark.
Lot's of us here in the northwest, had no idea that they had A-Teams for recording sessions, etc. Most of us labored to understand how the various artists sounded so different from one recording to another.
I'd guess the Bob Eaton records (4 sides) on which JERRY BYRD played, was somewhere around 1955 thro'
1965.
Lots of the great records I have with JERRY BYRD on them, were those done in the four side groupings. |
