So who is the best person to rewind one of these?

From my 37 Gibson EH100...completely open.

Tom Brantley rewound a '47 Fender Deluxe pickup for me and did a fantastic job. I also had two Ricky 8-string pickups rewound for me by Lindy Fralin (when Tom worked there) and they sounded great as well.

It could be just a broken connection inside, but this thing has a thick plastic outer band, and I'm afraid I might break something trying to get it apart. Think I would rather trust it to a pro, as it might be just a bit hard to find a replacement.

Another vote for Jerry Wallace. He's done work for me and he's excellent.

Tom rewound two steel pickups for me, a K&F (which needed a new bobbin, too) and a '30s Rick. He did excellent work on both for a low price.

Jerry informs me that he is not rewinding anything anymore except Emmons & Shobud pedal steel pickups. I think I will be going with Brett Brubaker. He is very reasonable and assures me the pickup will be rewound back to the original specs. Thanks everyone for the advice. I may post a sound file of the old Gibson when I get the pickup back.

Tom Brantley has my vote. He did a great job on a vintage Valco stringthru p/u for me. Reasonably priced and quick turnaround. Thanks, Alan
