Someone has offered me a pretty good deal on a 1953 Supro. I'm not sure of the model but it is the one styled like this:

(Note: this is not the actual guitar)

And has the pickup with the piece that goes over the strings. It is extremely clean and serial dates it to 1953.

Worth investing a few hundred??

Yes, I'd say easily so.
Those are great sounding pickups and it is a cool style.

I have that same model from the early '60s. Mine came with legs and case. The string-through pickup is amazing, and it's darn cool to look at. Don't hesitate!
