Mine is a 1974 Classic. I am happy to tell you how mine is set up but I cannot tell you if my set up is the factory set up. I bought it this way and since I am a new player, I am learning to play this set up.

My LKL raises my E's to F. My LKR lowers my E's to D#. My A pedal raises my B's to C#. B pedal raises G#'s to A. C pedal raises #4 E string to F# and raises #5 string from B to C#. The 4th pedal raises #6 string from G# to Bb. The 5th pedal raises #7 string from F# to G#.

My RKL raises #1 string from F# to G#. #2 string from D# to E and lowers #6 string from G# to F#. My RKR is 2 step and lowers #2 string from D# to D and then to C#. It does the same for string #9.

Hope this helps you.
Alvin

Carl.. Your MSA has been changed from factory set up...
Original 1970's MSA was..
RKR- Lower E'e 1/2
RKL- Raise E's 1/2
LKL.. Usually Raise G# 1/2
LKR..Lower 2nd string Eb to C# with a 1/2 tone feel stop at D..
If I were you, I would put the Franklin pull on one of those pedals.. On my 5 and 4 MSA Classic, I split the Franklin change.. I know MSA guitars very well , please feel free to email if i can help out in any way...
Check this video out, First half of the video shows quite a bit my use of the 4 and 5 pedals on an MSA Classic 5+4.. There may be something I am using that you would be interested in trying on your own MSA... bob

I was mistaken about the year of my guitar ,it is a 1974.Thankyou all for your comments,i will try to absorb what has been sent to me.Being new i'm not sure what will be the best for me in the long hall,as I don't know what the new extra pedals would do for me as far as what chords I would get from the mentioned setups..Carl Confused

Carl, the Franklin pedal drops 5,6 and 10 a whole step. I've not played with mine yet, so I don't know what it'll give you besides a B7 with the D# lever.
Greg Cutshaw has a lesson in it on his site, and Paul sells an instructional CD.

Hi David.. I pull the 6th string G# down a full tone... It is a "split" Franklin pull, as I pull the B down a full tone with pedal 5.. Yes it "burns" a pedal, but I get SO much more out of the "Franklin Pull" when its on 2 pedals that its worth it. I find all kinds of stuff to do with that change when its split between the 2 pedals, and very little when its not. As you can see, that G#-F# lower alone on a pedal is very basic to my "style"[what style?..lol]
I like that change much better on a pedal than a knee,, its SO much faster... bob

If it were MY guitar (I'm just me, an admitted goofball),I'd do the following:
LKL: raise 4&8
LKR: lower 4&8 (I like the B lower, I'd think about saving for an LKV kit, but you said 5&4)
P1: 1+ to G#, 2++ to E
P2: A
P3: B
P4: C
P5: 5-- and 10-- to A
RKL: 1+ to G and 6-- to F#
RKR: 2-- to C# (preferably with a half stop at D, 9- to C#
While I'm aware that means swapping LKR and RKL, the E lowers play off so well against both the 6th string lower and 2nd string lower, I feel it important to have the possibility of using either with the E drops. Others have said they don't need the vocabulary I find there (NEED? Hell, I don't need them, but I like them. I could spend a night gigging on a Maverick and have fun, but I'd miss the absent pulls), but I like 'em.
