I just got some pics from a forumite that doesn't post much of a Fender 800 that he owns.. it is no less than stunning cond.. NEVER saw one this clean... cables, changer, pulleys, pedals, frame, body, EVERYTHING is shiny as new.. jaw dropping... I have pics, but won't submit them without his permission.. He may want to sell it, not sure, and I asked him to please sell it here before ebay if he decides to, as this is one VERY rare steel in this condition.. I will get some pics either here or in the for sale section depending on what this forum friend says.. I hope he decides to sell it here instead of ebay,, but its not my decision.... I can't get it out of my head, I have the bread, but I just don't have the space for it, even though I did have a crack at purchasing it... what a beauty...another pic below... bob

Jay thats what all the girls say to me when I turn down thier advances...HA!!..
Honestly, this thing is killer.. Just like new.. I mailed the owner back and forth, and have had forum members want to buy it.. he is now not sure what he wants to do.. Like so many of us, he has this guitar sitting in its case year after year unplayed, decides to sell it to someone who will use it, but when he sees the guitar set up in all its glory, he becomes unsure if he can let it go.. There are just very few left in tis condition... I will see if he will let me post the pics he sent... bob

This is the kind of guitar a collector would be very interested in. Beautiful guitar that looks unused.

I have one that doesn't look nearly as good as this one.

**I'm still looking for someone to put knee levers on mine.....

Not to hijack the thread......

Marty.. have you tried some of the pedal steel repair guys on the forum?

It wouldn't be hard, if they had some suitable levers in stock.. Hardest part would be fabricating the wire loops that hook into the changer, but even that should pose no problem.
I would talk to Jim Palanscar... He would most likely be happy to tackle it.
I'll be honest with you.. it isn't going to be cheap, no matter who does it.

What about the system you had on your steel Bob?

I thought it was a winner...maybe we should start a weekly inquiry of our guy here to see the progress....it's been a couple of years now.....

Are you listening Michael????

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Maybe if we listed just how many of us are ready to get his product it might persuade him to get it in the hopper?

Maybe old surgical tubing to keep it from rattling?

Possibly, but there isn't a problem with rattling in these changers if the cables are tensioned properly. I thought it looked like some sort of glue, or rubber cement that was meant to keep the loops in place. It just seemed strange to see it there, as the rest of the guitar is so pristine. It's good to see that some really nice examples remain. Smile

It starts out clear, but yellows with age. A small length of clear plastic tubing. Flattened, it slips over the wire loop-changer connection to keep the wire from slipping out of the changer before the cable is tightened.

My first pedal steel was a metallic blue Fender 800. Purchased it in 1966. In '68 I put two knee levers on it. In '74 I converted the undercarriage to an all rod system. It was a very stubborn guitar. No matter what I tried, it had already made up its mind that it was never going to be an Emmons.

Best regards,

I sold that 800, with the 4 levers installed.. The new owner was thrilled to get his hands on it...

That system is totally flawless..

Maybe Mike will sell the design to someone else .
It really should be made available..
