I've been working on layout out a case for my SuperSlide recently, and I'd appreciate opinions on an issue. I'm trying to maximize the efficiency of the space, and as such, I'm inclined to not leave a single bit of foam unused.

Here is the current layout:

My question is about the "fin" that is connected to the 5.75" x 11.5" rectangle. Not using it seems like wasted space, but I also can't rationalize what it might possibly be useful for. For clarification sake, the current design would attach the fin to the rectangle.

What would go into the rectangle? Could you fit a pedal, more cables, a tuner, etc. into the fin?

Right now, I'm thinking a small mic stand, mic, and some cable will go into the rectangle. My only real reason not to go ahead with the fin is simply that it seems so awkwardly shaped that I'm not sure anything would really fit in it. The 12" x 2" rectangle by the neck is for a pedal, at least for now. If I ever use a high-profile pedal (unlikely) I'd have to put it in the big rectangle.
