My backup ,which sounds beautiful, is a pre Micro 1970 D-10,very well made, easy to work on. I sometimes gig with it, when the tone gets to me. Bill Cool

I have a '77 Classic SS (thanks again Herb), and a '74 Classic that I rotate with my others. I just finished restoring the Classic a couple of months ago, and it looks and plays like a new one. I haven't practiced much on anything else since I finished it. I am also restoring a '75 S12 Classic.

Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro.

Nah, upon reflection, you should keep it. You love it enough for both of us. Wink

I use the Milly when I play out, but these 2 get played at home. They have Tom Bradshaw's triple raise inserts on strings 5 and 6, and tunable splits surgically installed by Jim Palenscar on strings 4,5, and 8. Tom Bradwhaw made the wrist levers.

I feel that I have 2 older wives and a hot young girfriend (the Milly) and I love all 3.

My only steel is a 74 Classic D10 converted to an SD10. No reason to get a new one or have a backup since this one plays good as new.

My '73 MSA D-12, which I converted to SD-12U a couple years ago, is the only steel I have now. Hasn't been much going on around here for steel but I use it for my own recordings and just was contacted to do some sessions so it will be on them.

74 was a good year for MSA. I have a black s12 classic.New to me and I love it. I removed the first and last string and moved everything in the middle and just use 10 string EMONS set up.Some of you advised me not to and I apreciated the advice, but now that I did it,I love it. I also learned a good deal about the inside and the rodding of the guitar. I LOVE my MSA Very Happy

This is my MSA Classic S10 Rosewood, 1974.
Plays and sounds good and does not break strings,
Stays in tune.
I refinished the pedalboard. Sanded paint off and
polished Auminum. Installed new emblem.

I did a double bill gig with Mayne just recently. He was playing cajun style with the Auxcajunals sounding great as always on his white S12 MSA. Mayne's dobro playing on Jim Kweskin's "America" is kinda what got me draging a bar in the first place.

Jimmy Grabowske has been using a Super Sustain for the last few years, and quite a lot of the older players I come across in Texas still play MSAs
