For you fellows that own Mullen guitars. Do you find you have less grooving of the fingers with Del Mullen's changers as he anodizes them? Or no noticable difference.
I remember that the Dekley had chrome plated changer finges and apparently they did not groove from string pressure? Appreciate any response. |

JB - I've been playing a U-12 Mullen since 1998 and there are no grooves on any of the changer fingers.

Jim Bob,
I have a 1992 Mullen D-10 and I can't see any grooves on any of the fingers. |

Hi Jim Bob. I have a 94 Mullen D10 ...It has the anodized fingers...I do not notice any grooving at all on the fingers. I cannot compare it to the polished aluminum fingers on some Mullens, having never owned a Mullen with those fingers.

Jim Bob,
I don't have a Mullin, but the S12 that I own has polished changer and they do get grooves in them, the wound strings are the worse.I polish them out when I change strings.Fine grade (white) scotchbright pads and a good grade of polishing compound do'es the trick. You can get it at an auto paint store or parts house.

Ditto the other Mullen owners.
No wear on the hard anodized changer. |

In the 20+ years I've had my D-12 Dekley I have used the stock pickups, Barcus Berry's and now L-712's and haven't noticed hardly any difference in the tone.
Jerry Fessenden's theory is that the chrome plated changer fingers are determining the sound of the guitar more than the pickups can change. Based on that, I would say that the harder anodized aluminum fingers would definitely change the tone of the guitar from the sound of plain polished aluminum fingers. |
