For anyone that knows or is close to him, do you know what his final knob settings were on his Revelation? I have the general "Nashville" settings, which is a good starting point and I've tweaked from there. It varies with guitar, pickup and speaker and touch. It's a different animal than the Peavey steel amps that I've used for years. I'm just curious as to Emmon's conclusion? _________________ 1976 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics 427 pickup, 1975 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics X-12 pickup, Revelation preamp, Carbon Copy Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb, Crown XLS 1002, 2- 15" Eminence Wheelhouse speakers, ShoBud Pedal, Effects Pedals. 1949 Epiphone D-8. |

Dennis, I am bet the controls are like the old Fender tube amps. Last year I bought an old Fender tube amp and the controls were totally different than Peavey. Here is what helped me the most; A guy told me to turn the tone controls wide open, and then turn down what I did not like. It worked great, and I was dialed in to a tone I liked in a 3 or 4 minutes. Might try this method and see if it works. |

Hi Keith, I hope the Winter has been better there than here.
I think I have it dialed in very close to my original preferred sound. What I have right now sounds great in the studio. I haven't used it live. I'm just duplicating what I hear from my live preferred steelers recordings and adjusting in my living room. Just experimenting. I read somewhere on the forum that Emmons had one and I am just curious to what he found.
My local steel mentor suggested years ago as you replied, "knobs full "on" and take out what you don't like." It works easier than tweaking upwards. _________________ 1976 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics 427 pickup, 1975 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics X-12 pickup, Revelation preamp, Carbon Copy Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb, Crown XLS 1002, 2- 15" Eminence Wheelhouse speakers, ShoBud Pedal, Effects Pedals. 1949 Epiphone D-8. |

Dennis, hope your enjoying your Rev as much as I have. I was down in St. louis in the spring of '07 for some work related training and the Rev was fairly new at that point I believe. I called Brad up after my class one day and he said come over and try it out, which I did since I was so curious about it. After playing with it for about 10 min. I knew I had to have one. I got one a couple of months later and have LOVED it ever since. Best preamp/amp I have ever owned. I use mine with a TC Electronics G Sharp processor direct xlr outs into our board. I have it coming back to me in a stereo in-ear mix which sounds like I'm playing with a CD. It's so awesome. |

Michael, The Rev is a keeper. I seldom get the opportunity to work in a band with a sound man. A sound man can make or break a band. Good sound men are hard to find, especially for steel settings. Sounds like he's doing a great job. Hang onto him.
I need to get up to Walford and give you a listen next month. _________________ 1976 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics 427 pickup, 1975 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics X-12 pickup, Revelation preamp, Carbon Copy Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb, Crown XLS 1002, 2- 15" Eminence Wheelhouse speakers, ShoBud Pedal, Effects Pedals. 1949 Epiphone D-8. |
