I was at Tuffy`s, At Mauriceville, Tex. last night,They have a small band every Sat. night. Bob plays an Emmons peddle steel, I wonder how many of you remember him. He played with Ray Price, T.Texas Tyler and others. As I listened to his steel playing, I marveled at how great he was, I`ve listened to country music all my life, I`ve heard some great steel players, this guy, in my opinion is hard to beat.
Couple weeks back , a lady from N.Y. .N.Y. asked if she may sing, she wanted to sing "MISTY", suer thing ,she looked over at Bob and asked can you play that? " I wrote it he replied" , Naahh she said ,anyway this guy is a real "STEELER" he`s BOB MATHEW , from around Buna, Tex.

I know Bob Mathues very well. We've made a couple of the Dallas shows together and you are absolutely correct he is a great Steel player!! Bob is from Vidor, Tx and he plays at Tuffy's every other weekend alternating with Eddie Ortego a great Dobro player.

Carroll Benoit is the main singer and band leader and they play there every Sat. night. Carroll builds the Benoit Resophonic Guitars which is what Eddie plays.

They are a great bunch of folks and good friends of mine. The wife and I try to make it by there as often as we can to visit and listen to some great music.

BTW-Bob turned me on to my Gerry Walker Stereo Steel amp. I bought it used from him when he was getting a new one and I love it. Somehow it don't sound quite as good as when he plays through it, I've always wondered why that is
