I have just bought a Peavey Express 112 with a Scorpion speaker for a very good price,it sounds ok but I am thinking of putting a Black Widow speaker as a replacement for the Scorpion but not sure if the amp would have the power to drive the BW .Any help would be appreciated.

What is the output of this amp please, it's very very loud with no breakup.

Jimmy..

Jimmy, I looked up the express 112 and it does say it needs to see an 8 Ohm load, You could probably get away with a 4 Ohm but its not recommended,

here's a link to the manual if You don't have it,
http://assets.peavey.com/literature/manuals/80301252.pdf

So My suggestion would be a BW 1203-8 it would give You more of that midrange bark while still giving the amp what it wants to see,

Hope this helps!.
Josh.

Thanks Josh,On the back of my Peavey Express it has an extension speaker output that says not to go below 8ohms the speaker in the amp is also 8ohm,so I will assume using another 8ohm speaker would give a 4ohm load, I will add it`s not the new type Peavey Express it is quite a few years old and I got it very cheap, anyway I tried a 4ohm Black Widow in the amp and the tone is absolutely superb on both guitar and steel.

Hey...whatever works works,

Trust Me, I'm one to talk about load mismatches The Fender BF DLX reverb I use for six-string has a 4 Ohm Utah blue-bell in it and I completely agree...to Me it sort of..."woke up" the DLX.
