I just came acrross this video, after listening to Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys "Night Tide" CD on the way home from a gig.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umrUu_xNEm8

Lee is one of my all-time favs, and a huge influence on my playing.
BTW, he's playing a PSG on this video, but to my ears isn't using any pedals.

God bless Lee !!!
Has always been a favorite of mine and with Tom Morrell and others, a big source of inspiration,
from the early 90s albums of Big Sandy, up to the present day :-
No Peddlers Allowed and I think "Pure" E13th!!!

Man can Lee swing! I've watched Lee sweep an entire club along with him, every foot tapping with every solo. In the Speedy West tradition, he's not afraid to take chances and more often than not it pays off.

I enjoyed the You Tube performance immensely. I'm even more impressed now than I was the first time I heard you play.

What kind of a g'tar were you a pickin' on?

Great player and a great guy! Lee's always willing to help with questions and share his knowledge, of which he has a vast store. He's passionate about the history of steel guitar and is a link to some of the late greats like Speedy West, Joaquin Murphy, Vance Terry and others.

I Had The Pleasure Of Attending The Big Sandy Show At The Tractor Tavern In Seattle (Ballard ,Wa.) In The Mid 1990s. Lee Jefferies & Ashley kingman Were Fantastic. WOW!!! This Experience Was The Closest Thing To Seeing "Speedy West" & "Jimmy Bryant", That I Could Have Experienced. Cool

Definitely one of my first influences in getting into non pedal steel.

Steve, hope the stand is still working for you. I have another design to throw at you and see we you think.

Here is a new studio recording that the West Coast Ramblers did last month. Twin steels with Lee Jeffriess and Mikiya Matsuda. You can download the new songs at www.westcoastramblers.com. There is also a facebook page link there as well.
Hope you like it,
Steve

Lee has been talking up Mikiya for quite some time to me. Seems like they complement each other quite well. Love the idea of a 2 steel guitar band.

Lee, that's just too cool. Excellent mix of creativity and structure. Unlike say, twin fiddles, there's much less of a tradition of twin steels but you prove it can work really well. Awesome.

Great tune/video!
Check out Lee's comping/fills from 0:40 - 0:59, especially his chords on the back half...that's some deep stuff.
