When in doubt...turn to the experts! I need some help with identifying the year of my Emmons Push/Pull. The only identifying mark that I can find is D2161. Is this number useful in identifying the year it was manufactured? I'd appreciate any help that can be provided. (I have pictures, but I am not sure how to attach them here). |

Something wrong here, the "D" is supposed to be after the number. Recheck this, it may be an invoice number that someone added the "D" later, if so you have a early '66.

Bobbe: I rechecked the number and it is 2161D. I typed it incorrectly in my previous message. So, my guitar is probably a 1966? |

Here's a reference page which may be useful to those trying to date push/pull Emmons D-10 guitars.
Remember that it appears that some endplates were serialized before the guitars were put into production; therefore, a '67 serialized endplate may be on a guitar sold in '68 (as an example). Also, remember this list pertains only to D-10's.
Note that numbers without a D, even if the number is higher, would likely pre-date the serial number list (meaning likely that they were an earlier date of manufacture than ones with a D).

Hope that helps!

I appreciate all of the fine help!! From the chart that Ann referred me to I determined that my guitar was manufactured in 1977. It plays fine (considering who's trying to play it! LOL) and I work a little here and there trying to restore it. I have the original case that now looks like it has been through a battle....(I just say it has "character"). Again, thanks for all of your help and research! |
