I somehow missed this one the first time around. On of my favorite tunes and a natural for the steel. Pure artistry, Doug! I so admire the way your vibrato shimmers and how you vary it based on what a given phrase needs to really sing out. I'm generally not a fan of SFX mixed with music but I've gotta say it absolutely stirs the imagination and makes this piece feel cinematic in scope. Terrific.

Wow! Thanks, Andy. This tune is so exotic sounding, I just love it! It's a simple melody, but haunting and it conjures up images of the sea, the dark and mysterious aspects of the sea, in my mind anyway.

It sure does! Yours stands up well in alongside the great versions Chet Atkins & Santo & Johnny recorded.

Of course, there really aren't any "bad" steel guitars, though arguably some better than others, and Doug consistently proves that no matter the guitar played, he makes them sound like the guitar you need to get to sound as beautiful as his playing. It's in the hands and heart. Intonation is always so spot on. Am I envious? Hell, yeah. 😂

Thanks, guys. I'm glad you like it. I recorded this one about a year and a half ago. It's nice to see it resurface again. Gracias, Andy!
