Come to the last HSGA Convention to be held in Joliet Oct 3-5 ... http://www.hsga.org/joliet2013.htm ... and give my newest "endeavor" a try ...

The Maximo Joe Combo = My cast aluminum "Dustpan" + My new Hawaiian Steel All Tube Amp ... "The Luigifier"

This is the prototype I just finished ... in a 70's Champ Chassis and cabinet (that went through Hurricane Andrew and never really recovered).

Trial and error-ed a ton of stuff till I was pleased with it ... put in an Eminence 8" hemp cone speaker ... moddified my steel abit too ...

My long range goal is to make these "combos" ... ala the old matched steel/amp combos from the 30's and 40's ... and offer then up ... while teaching a couple of my kids how to make all this stuff Laughing

So come to Joliet in a few weeks ... sip some Sailor Jerry rum with me ... and have "a go" at these rascals Mr. Green

Brilliant! Does this mean you will be casting more Dustpans?

That's the plan ... Who knew looking after 6 kids all day would be so time consuming Oh Well

I predict a paradigm shift in today's youth ... Away from Boy Bands ( yes, we took our two girls to see "One Direction" this summer ... Rolling Eyes ) ... Toward an Andy Iona / Dick McIntire resurrection ...

And I want to be ready Mr. Green

PS: Forum member Ron Ellison and family ... dropped by yesterday for a visit ... Knocked back a few cold ones, tried out the Luigifier and had some BBQ ... Very fun afternoon

^^^I agree! New steel/amp combos is about the coolest idea yet--and coming from you, even better! (Although, if that's really your prediction, I hope you stay away from the stock market!) Razz

Seriously, great news that you are really getting back into it! Must be great that your passion for Hawaiian steel guitar can be an outlet for so many of your interests, talents and abilities.

May be you are saying this with a little tongue in cheek, but maybe you are intuitively on to something.

Wait until you hear a young 18 year old Hawaiian Steel guitar player coming to Joliet this year. His name is Mark Prucha and he will blow your mind. He has been playing approximately two and a half years, and he already plays with some of the precision and mastery of the old masters like Dick McIntire. Wait and see!!

Other young people hearing him should be inspired to take it up and play like him.

I have received alot of emails ... Thanks for your interest ...

I apologize if I was misleading anyone ... It is my "long range plan" to get to the point where I can make cast steels, pickups and a matching amp ... On a retail level.

The intent of this post was to invite folks who are going to HSGA's Convention next month ... To come up and try these components out for themselves ...

I have every intention of working on steels, pickups and amps ... Full time ... Once all my children are in school ... Luigi is 2 yrs ... Max will be starting kindergarten next year ( he's 4)

Again, sorry if my post was misleading ... I was just quite excited when I finally got this "boutique" amp done ... And it exceeded my expectations ...

Mr. Green

Amp and Steel Guitar Combo in the Byrd - Tradition - Fantastic.

You have created an Aloha Spirit inspired Nirvana.

This package should satisfy your contribution to this Art Form for as long as you want.

The Maximo Joe Combo will have a new choice to compliment my Dustpan..

The "Tuckelite" steel guitar ... Cool

I'm in the process of making a cast aluminum B6 style Hawaiian steel ... Complete with cavities, plates, integrated frets, integrated nut & bridge ...

6 & 7 stringers ...

I'm using the '35 style cutaway neck ... 2 piece construction w/ Bolt on neck ...

Airstream pickup ( of course) ... Mr. Green

Once this weather breaks around here ... The prototype will be cast ...

Quite a challenge in keeping it under 20 lbs ... But I'm gonna try Laughing
