When was the last time you saw a modern S10 steel with 7 pedals and NO levers.
Like any other builder Bud and John made it exactly the way the customer wanted it... Perhaps physical problems, or simply the fact the owner played older guitars without levers years ago and thats the way he or she played on a new steel as well.. I wonder if it will keep the price down... Personally I would take 2 pedals off and add 5 levers, but we're talking serious money.. Should be interesting to see what it sells for....bob

hard to say the reasoning without knowing the copedant. could be a hawaiian player? many of the first (65-67) Emmons S-10s were 6 pedals 0 knees.

As were the Fender 800, and many of the old S10 R&B Buds..
As I wrote in the OP, perhaps someone learned on an old steel with lots of pedals and no knees, and just kept it the same way on a modern steel... bob

According to the seller, the "wood finish" is in fine shape.

What kind of wood is that, Formica or Wilsonart"?

Seven pedals, but eight crossrods? The in-between crossrod appears to have one pull and one empty bellcrank. Perhaps it has some custom hardware for a lever? Wish the picture of the underside were clearer.
