Are all the nylon tuning nuts the same LENGTH??,,,This Carter guitar that I've just acquired,,,the tuning nuts are recessed so far in that I have to lean waaaaay over to see them. I know I could put a spacer on the rod but,,,,,,,,I was wondering if there are different lengths??? |

Yes, there are different lengths (and rod hole size) on different guitars. |

The longer ones are about 1-1/8" long. I have a couple. Be sure you have room on the changer side of the case to where these won't get bent (well, the rod won't get bent). On my Carter there is very little space in the case at the changer end unless I make sure to put it in the case with the tuning key end against The end of the case. But I don't think enough would be hanging out to cause problems. I first put one om string 10 of my C6 neck. The machining for the window, wasn't quite so accurate and it was very difficult to get the tuning wrench in far enough to grab the tuning nut. It didn't cause any problems. I have been thinking of switching to the longer ones too for the very reason you are. I took a sharpie pen of different colors and color coded them, all changes on one pedal with it's own color. Through the years, some of those have ended up in other places and were hard to see on a dark stage, I may take the few I have and put them on and color them and see how it works. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) .
