Anyone here have any experience with these? They are shaped like a surfboard and have screw in legs much like the el cheapo Rogue. The prices are dropping on them it seems and all the reviews I have seen (a few) were very good. Of course there would be the added expense of the Hawaiian shirts that would be mandatory.
Most reviews mention that the build quality is good and they play and sound well. Probably would get a few chuckles at a jam session I imagine.

Tried it in the store but didn't buy. My toes kept getting caught in the strings. _________________ Steel Guitar Books! Website: www.volkmediabooks.com |

I once went to a beach party in the centre of London. The apartment was decorated with customised ironing boards enhanced with "dorsal fins" (cut from corn flake cartons), stuck on the rear, with motifs like "surfin' safari" sprayed on them. It was a pretty good party but I recall the sound quality of the music system to be terrible.
These steels remind me of that party in many ways. _________________ \paul

But real surfboards are made out of a composite carbon fibre process. I'll bet if you built a lap steel out of a real surfboard it would have great sustain, especially if you retained the extra length. |
