This post pertains to all wood instruments not just steel guitars.- Here goes - I got a nice Epiphone acoustic from a private party , not a high dollar guitar , but just right for my needs . . Brought it into the workshop and proceeded to give it a good cleaning with what I thought was a clean , soft cloth and guitar polish . . There was something on or in the cloth that scratched the surface - not bad , but a little worse than your average pick scratch . . . I used some "scratch remover" , buffed like a dog , but no dice - still there . .
Anyone got advice or a home remedy for getting them out ? ? Thx.

Many guitar polishes only contain cleaners and waxes, but no real polishing ingredient. Other posters like the Meigulars and 3M products, but I like the old fashioned DuPont White Polishing Compound. A little dab of compound on a wet clean white T-shirt should do the trick.

Novus No.1, Novus No.2 and Novus No.3 are pretty much all I've ever needed for everything but the aluminium. For that I use Mothers metal polish.
