I just want to thank Bobby and Ed for the really informative articles they posted in the articles section. I originally found the Steel Guitar forum while I was searching for material to help me with setting up my lap steel. I am glad I found the forum. But the articles are still great. I just reread Bobby's article on the C tuning. What great insight! I am searching for a tuning that is truly universal and Bobby's article has really put the whole concept into perspective for me.
As far as Ed's article on the science of music, all I can say is that I refer to it constantly. It is a well written text which has demystified music for me. It is full of wonderful material. The article is greater than the sum of its parts.

Thank you, gentlemen, for advancing my understanding of music in general and the pedal steel in particular.

Thanks for the kudos, Karlis.

I have to point out that the C Scale tuning is not really a "universal" tuning. In fact, it's hard to coax most of the common steel styles out of it. Still, it is interesting. For the next evolutionary step, check out my F Diatonic tuning at b0b.com/tunings/fscale12.htm.

Thanks again.

Bobby, I like your F diatonic. You get the full diatonic scale at 1 fret plus, with a small change, you get other keys. It is well thought out and makes sense.
