I am looking for an honest person to tell me why my membership in the Central Arkansas Steel Guitar Club was suspended. I am an old piss poor picker that probably needs to be voted out but I want to see who has the guts to stand up and tell me why. I have a few names but that is heresay. I want the truth.

Are you sure your wife didn't call them and complain that you've never home?

Didn't Groucho Marx say something to the effect that he wouldn't join any club that would have him?

Groucho was told he couldn't join a beach club because they didn't accept Jews. He said, "My son is only half Jewish. Can he go in up to his waist?".

I don't know you or your group. But are you really, truly telling us you have no idea whatever why you were voted out? Not the slightest clue?

You gonna have a fat lady sing on your next set? Wink

All kidding aside, sounds pretty extreme to be voted out; I didn't know any steel guitar clubs go to such lengths for anybody...

Now, please reassure us that you were not doubling on an electric banjer with a mouth organ hanging around your neck while playing a kick drum.

Please!

I know you all think it is ok to poke fun of me but it aint... I played or tried to play last year at one of our club meetings. It was my first one and I tried a hard as I could. I played with tracks and with karouke and sheet music. I really thought it was ok. But when I got through that is when I really got my feelings hurt.

Later I wanted to try it again but the Club voted me out. I am 76 years old but that don't have anything to do with it. My point is I was told that the Club would never do anything to intentionally hurt any one's feelings. So go ahead and have a good laugh. I can take it if you can.

There is only one reason for you to post this topic here---to beg people to have their way with it. Otherwise you would be talking with the people who are actually involved with your personal situation and trying to resolve it. Telephone? Email? Mail? No--you publicly posted this on the wall of the biggest steel guitar bulletin board on the planet. So that 13847 steel guitarist could try to fix this for you? What is it that you are asking for?

Most clubs would try to help or instruct an older "newbie"!! I think you are maybe better off away from such people that would do that to an olde guy!! Clubs are to help each other , not show off how good you might be !! Too bad you're not closer, the RISGA would not just tolerate but would try to bring a new player up to speed !! olde geezer in RISGA - AKA Eddie "C"

And that's all that anyone can do. Since you apparently have no idea why you were voted out, you couldn't have done something all THAT bad. I agree with Mr. Cunningham. Forget about the club...at least for now. I've seen people in their 20's who were too intimidated by the steel guitar to try to learn to play it. And yet here YOU are, at 76, and giving it a try. I think that's great! My advice would be to keep practicing. Practice hard and everyday. Tracks, tab, with the radio, with your favorite CD,...whatever...just keep practicing. Don't give up. And when someone from the "club" comes by and want's you to show them a few licks, be humble, gracious, and forgiving and try to help them. Good luck, Mr. Henderson.

You all do not know the whole story so lets leave it at that. what was the last straw was mentioned on a prior post . it was one sided and broadcast to the whole steel guitar world , the club has bylaws and they were violated. nuff said.
