What is the most common fret board scale length on a pedal steel guitar, I need to know for the guitar I am building.

Smile prolly 24" but 24 1/4 is also fairly common. There are other scale lengths in use but imo these are the most common. You will soon have a plethora of answers once some of the guys see this post Winking ...Stormy

Depends on what you are designing yours after.

My Franklin, is 24 1/4".

If my memory servers me right, Emmons and Zum and probably others are 24 1/4" scale. Sho-Bud's and Carter's are 24".

If you want to build a longer scale eight string, I have some early Sho-Bud fretboards that are likely 25 inch scale. Does that look right. The green neck guitar was converted from 25 to 24 inch scale when it got its longer nine string keyheads.

Steven, you asked a question with mangled terms.
"Scale length" means distance from bridge to nut. For most guitars, this number usually means 24 or 24 ¼. A few use 25. That's the question everybody answered, but might not have been the question you wanted.
"Fretboard length" means the distance from the nut end of the fretboard to the bridge end of the fretboard. This will usually end up around 19, as most fretboards have 26 frets. 24 frets will typically run 17 ⅞ (the fretboard doesn't start at the nut, but" in) on 24" guitars and 18 1/16 on 24 ¼ guitars, then you'll add two frets worth.

And, without getting into a lot of math, the 12 fret is at 1/2 of the string length, measured from the center of the bridge to the center of the nut.

And fretboards are often trimmed at the nut end or fit into a milled recess under the nut to make a correct starting point
