I want to change the speaker in a Peavey 112 Valveking 16 ohm to a speaker more suited for Classic Country and Delta Blues. Which speaker would be the very best? Thanks

Billy,
I just went through this with a 112/50 ValveKing and I was surprised at what I found. I did convert mine to a 212, with a new enclosed cabinet.

The ValveKing , or at least mine, needs a speaker(s) with a tight cone. I tried JBLs, a pair of D120 and D123, and neither sounds as good as the speaker that came in it.

I wound up with two EV12 speakers. The best speakers next to the EV12 was two old 12" Fender speakers from a Twin Reverb. All of the speakers I tried were 8 ohm wired in series to give 16 ohms.

Hope this helps. Bill
