What are some good, basic II-V-I or IIm7 - V7 - IM7 chord changes or patterns for C6th?

I play 6-string in a jazz quintet and I'd like to start playing pedal steel on the back neck every once in a while in that group, too. So, just like I have a library of II-V-I changes for 6-string, I'd like to start building a library of the same for C6th. Can someone get me started on some generic, but nice-sounding, ones?

Thanks. I appreciate it.

Right on Eric good luck i'm on a similar path, of building libraries in the mind.
key of C:
Dm7 fret 5 - strings 8,6,5,3
G7 fret 5 - strings 8,6,5,3 (P5)
CM7 - fret 7 strings 9, 7,6 4

I'd just like to point out that the convention is that if your "two" chord is a minor, or minor seventh, then you should write it as "ii m7" and not "II m7" as the upper case II implies a major triad.

Semantic details, I know, but if you are talking about theory, it should be the right theory. Smile

Eric, since you and I both play 6 string, I will explain how I remember chords for the C6 neck.

If you press your 7th pedal (on the 7th fret) you get Cmaj9 when you strum from the 9th string. If you read music, these are the lines of the staff.

Still holding the 7th pedal, move down 2 frets (picking from the 8th string), you get the spaces on the staff. So thinking guitar wise, this makes the Dm7 chord on the 5th fret. It should be easy to remember that way.

If you press the 6th pedal you get a 7th chord (in which the tonic is one fret higher than your used to) ex: 2nd fret is G. (BTW, pedal 6 is making the 7th tone a b7)

Good luck. I hope this helps.
