My Black Widow 1501's are shot and need to be replaced. I'd like to replace them with something much lighter, if I can. Telonics get rave reviews but too costly. Eminence EPS-15C are an option. Others recommended? (These are closed back, Stereo Steel cabs.)

One thing I'd like to do, if possible, is to use one of the cabs every once in a while for some low-volume bass guitar playing (living room or small church volume) through a GK MB200 bass head. Do you think the Eminence EPS-15Cs could handle low volume bass and sound decent with it or do I really have to bite the bullet and buy a separate bass cab? I don't play bass often enough to really want to do that at this time, if I don't have to.

Thanks,
Jim

I think the Eminence will work fine for that. Btw, sent you an email Jim.

Not sure about the bass part, but I put the EPS in a Nashville 400 as a weight saver, and wound up really liking the tone. Win-win situation.

Thanks, guys. BTW, Brett, your email has not arrived. Maybe copy it into a PM for me?

Jim,

The Sica Neo with the steel frame is quite a bit lighter than a BW, and many people use them for steel. They are designed as a bass speaker, so certainly would do fine for that. They also have an alloy frame model that is even lighter - maybe Ken Fox can give you an opinion on those - I know he used the standard Neo 15" in many of his speakers. Be aware, though, that they have a different mounting screw spacing, so you will have to drill new holes.

Jim:

The Peavey 1502-4 is a bass speaker and was used in many Nashville 400 amps. I used one in a Stereo steel cab for bass and it sounded fine (volume within reason)

The neo speakers sound the same (IMO) and much lighter and handle the same wattage.
