Hi Friends,
New Lower price.....Please help make me independent from this fine guitar. If It does not sell, I'll just put it back in the stable for awhile.
Take a look at this nice, lightweight Red, White and Blue Marlen. Excellent sounding vintage instrument. These things really rip, and the pickup is just superb. Standard Emmons on ABC, There are three factory pedals, and one excellent anodized aftermarket add on lever. All work properly. Es raise on LKL, lower on RKR,string one raise on RKL, and string two lower on RKR.
The original case is in excellent condition, with only one small imperfection on the top right side. Clearly, this was not a gigged guitar. I bought it from a fella who had it 30 years. Weight of this S-10 is 45.4 lbs in the case. You are not going to get much lighter than that.
I am selling for two reasons:
1) I just cannot get used to an S-10
2) I have a lot of vintage steels, and this is not getting any use.
Happy to answer any questions, and if someone wants to open the Pull Release debate, please do it on another thread!
$776 plus shipping. ( I had to make it 76, just because!!!)
Donation to this wonderful forum on successful completion of the sale. Thanks for looking!

What is the near-center cross-bar with what looks like 10 bell cranks on it used for? Is it just a rod guide, or does it have function? _________________ Dave Simonis

I just recently listened to an old Jeff Newman vinyl record that had a photo of Jeff with what looks like this very guitar on the cover. By the way, Jeff's tone on this record was superb. |

Dave: Not sure, but there are def 10 bell cranks. One of them has the half stop mechanism spring going through it. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can chime in.
Tommy: Thanks for the testimonial and the Jeff Newman info.
I'm open to offers folks! |

I remember attending one of Jeff's seminars, back in the 70's, and he played a steel just like this one. It sounded great, but, Jeff could make a 2x4 with strings sound great. This may be the same steel. It's a good price for this steel. |

Let me say this to those that might be afraid of the pull/release pull system on this steel... When its adjusted , and set right, it never moves.. Mine has been dead nuts on for over 4 months,,, Untouched, and always perfect.. They are tough to figure out at first, but are not "scary" just different than an all pull.. If I can do it anyone can, and the sound of these old marlens is second to none.. Just a magnificent sounding steel.. Very "vintage" tone with great sustain.... This is a very nice steel for the money, SOOO cool looking.. bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

I love that picture, out of the box, it takes me back to the old (young) days, with a Fender 800, Fender Twin reverb, and tons of fun....I'm tired of looking at the pictures of $5000 guitars hooked up to a $3000 amplifiers...LOL..this is very refreshing...

Citizens,
I feel it is my patriotic duty to drop the price on this fine guitar to $876. I have had a ton of trade offers, and a few lowball attempts. If you have your eye on this, don't miss out!

Just saw this, brings back some memories.
I bought a 76 model "Bi-centenial Marlen" from Ace Pawn on north May Ave in Oklahoma City in 1979.
I think I paid $700 for it. Red White Blue, 3 pedals, 3 Knee levers, I called Leonard Stadler and he sent me
a Knee lever kit and pull rods. Black anodized.... by the way, BUT the real tip off is the "Special" return
spring holder on the cross rod. Great sounding guitar.
I traded it in to Bob Woods less than a year later for a double twelve MSA. what a "BEAST", regreted that trade
ever since.... Great guitar, good luck
