Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto, CA (near Stanford University) is always a fun place to visit. The staff is very helpful and will pretty much let you try out whatever you want (even if your name isn't Brad).

Here are some photos of the guitars they had available today:

ElectroMuse, Harmony, Rickenbacker, Fender, Rickenbacker, Gibson, Supro, Recording King:

Regal, Gold Tone, Gold Tone, National, National, National:

Beard, National, Regal, Dobro, National:

Lebeda, Weissenborn, Dobro, National, National:

I bought my first dobro at Gryphon in 1988. As I recall it was one of the only guitar stores that actually carried a square neck dobro. Back then an OMI instrument was pretty much your only choice. It's nice to see how the selection has grown over the years!
