I know that Duane Marrs did a lot of experiments before he came up with his eventual design. I would like to continue along this line, but unfortunately he's no longer with us to consult. Were any of you in close contact with Duane at the time he was working on this and know what experiments he carried out? For instance, did he try different shapes and sizes of cans, or multiple cans? If anyone can share any information on the subject I would be overjoyed to hear it.

I took my own Marrs Catcan to pieces to see how it worked, by the way. Maybe three cans, like a Tricone would be louder, or using soup cans which are deeper might give more bass.

Hi Alan

I believe Jeff Surrat from ShoPro worked on the cat can. I was under the impression that he invented it, but I might be wrong.
I am sure he can tell you. Smile

I remember reading some time ago that he experimented with various cans, and found the cat food can to be the one he preferred.

Thanks, Peter, for mentioning Jeff Surrat. His website is well worth a visit, by the way.
Here's a video of his workshop which you might find interesting.

As a result of your recommendation I've emailed him, so I shall be interested to see what suggestions he might come up with.
