I just received the Little Roy Wiggins song book from b0b and what a treat it is in content and execution. Hats off to Scotty for creating this excellent book. I recently purchased an 8 string Fender Deluxe and decided to learn some of Roy's material.

Little Roy was the musical inspiration for me to purchase my first steel guitar late in life. For me, the beauty of learning from this book lies in the tab characters, which are placed on the exact string of an eight line tab layout. I have other non-related tab books (for example written for six strings), which have an 7th extra blank line shown at the top. In other words string 1 fret positions are shown on the second line down and so on down the line. This extra line to me is redundant and it regularly confuses me as to which string to pick. Another confusing thing for me is when the fret position characters are placed between the lines rather than centered on their correct line. That makes learning from tab more difficult as I constantly have to adjust for which adjacent string should be picked. Perhaps I'm the only one with this transposition problem but I sure appreciate it when the tablature is non-confusing.

Another person who writes excellent clear & easy to read tablature is Doug Beaumier for both Pedal and non pedal. I hope Doug produces a tab book for Dobro one day.

Hope this makes sense. If not let me know and I'll try to clarify what I'm trying to say.

Dan at the top of the section there is a pedaless steel tab and I believe it has blank tab sheets that you can print. Tab is easy to learn from. Just look at the lines that represent strings and if you see a number that is where you place the bar at. It was confusing for me at first.

There are two ways of showing tabs. One is to put the "note" on the line

The other is to use the space between the lines to put the "note".

If you use the second then you will have an extra line, since the string is the space between the lines.

Which one you use it's what you(who creates the tab) prefer, but it seems to me that most Steel tabs are using the second way.(?)

I'm using tabs for an E9th Pedal Steel in the images.
