I had hand/leg cramps along with some twitches some time back.Doctor did some blood tests and found my magnesium levels were extremely low.

I took some pills for a couple of weeks and all my problems disappeared.

May not be your problem but just a thought.

Hope you work it out.

My quack told me to eat banana's (potassium), drink lots of water, lay off the salt and take a multiple vitamin. Seems to help.......

I made a mistake, it was Potassium I was taking and NOT magnesium. It had been a few years ago and I had forgotten what it was.

My doctor had also recommended Potassium for me at one point. The Blood Pressure Med's had been eating it up.

When I visited the pharmacist, he handed me a sack of things about the size of a silver dollar and said to be sure to take them with a drink. I asked if there were any other options.

He stopped for a moment then said with a straight face: My chart indicates that I'd need twenty six inches of Banana's every day. I jokingly inquired what side affects might I be subjected to. He burst forth with a wide grin and explained that there would be an overpowering desire to swing from low tree branchs.

It was great to find a doctor-like person with a sense of humor.

A friend of mine told me about taking yellow mustard like " Frenchs Mustard". You take a teaspoon or one of those packets from McDonalds and it works for cramps and spasms. I didn't believe him and tried it myself and it did work. I get hip cramps and sometimes my toes cramp up, like a spasm. I take the mustard and voila, the cramp goes away! I think he read about it in Prevention magazine. So far, so good. I've tried quinine as in tonic, but, it takes too long to take effect and it doesn't always work. The mustard seems to work well for me.

Plain old yellow mustard. I've had trouble with muscle cramps in my feet, calves, inner thighs and hands. Not all at once but often. I had one so bad late one night I was leaning on the the dresser and passed out from the pain of the cramp for a short spell(I was out cold so did not look at he clock)when I came to my wife got the French's mustard out, I took a spoon full and the cramp released in probably 2 minutes. I have told friends about the mustard trick and they laughed at me until they tried it. I also take potassium, calcium, magnesium and a multi-vitamin and still have cramps...one thing I try to do is drink more water and that also seems to help. Try the mustard but use a table spoon full and then chase it with water. Gets in your system faster.

I use Nikken magnets, just apply it to the calf, etc and they are gone in an instant. The Magflex works great as it is larger and covers more surface area.

Patti also puts a bar of soap at the foot of the bed, under the blankets, seems to work as well.

Thought that Cramps was an old surfer rockabilly band from Sacramento with a redheaded woman who played guitar.

In my younger days I was an avid motorcycle racer. While racing Daytona in 1996 a factory rider for Suzuki told me about Quinine pills and pickle juice. These two things became a life saver for me. Trying to hold onto a 300 lb motorcycle racing for 3 hours straight my muscles would cramp and "pump" up. The quinine pills taken daily kept the cramps away, and pickle juice would eliminate my cramps within 15 to 20 minutes. Of course the most important thing is to stay "hydrated". ( with water.. Not alcohol ). Of course.. Check with your Dr. before starting any supplement program... For safety.

Bob, Good article.

I take a tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar every day, supposed to also help with good digestion.
