If you didn't see Gary Carter's steel guitar instrumental on Marty's TV show on RFD Saturday night, you really missed a good one. He played it solo, without any background music. I never heard tone and note separation as clear and clean. The man is simply one of the best steel players that I have heard.

And so it goes. I just caught the last half of the song and what I heard was great.

Just came home from Marty and Connie show at the Lincoln Center, Manhattan tonight.
Boy, Gary sounded FAAANTASTIC !!
He was playing blue Zum, and man, why my Zum doesn't sound anything like that-
It's because mine's Hybrid that's why, isn't it- |

I think Marty let him play a solo and complimented steel guitar, to make up for the shows that they had him turned completely off. _________________ Carter 12 string 4petals 5knees, Mullen G2 3 petals 4 knees

Marty often features his band and although Gary works with Connie he gets enough time on stage to be worthy of a spotlight.I'm sure Paul martin who is a member of this Forum lets Marty know of the comments made here on Garys playing. |

I have been working on a C6 arrangement of "And So it Goes" (Billy Joel) but now I see Gary has beat me to the punch! I'd love to hear his version. Has it hit YouTube yet? Any other way to see/hear it? _________________ www.JimCohen.com

Gary Carter has that song on his new CD which is available through Marty Stuart productions or I would guess Gary himself. _________________ 2006 Zum D10 8x8,1969 ZB Custom D10,

Don't know if I am more impressed with Gary's intonation or his amazing tone that's been so well praised here. His intonation is the result of playing an excellent instrument and doing it with exceptional talent and ability. When it comes to his tone, well, it's a li'l like the movie, Fried Green Tomatoes. . . "The secret's in the sauce"
