Vince is coming to our area (southwestern Florida). Does anyone know if he is touring with Paul Franklin? I looked on his site and it shows the Bakersfield CD cover photo but does not say if Paul is with him. I have been to 3 of his shows here in SW Florida and with each one, steel guitar has become featured less and less. If Paul is with him, I will be in the front row but if not, I will save my money and stay home. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know it's Paul. If for some reason Paul isn't on the gig, it will most likely be Tommy White subbing. That's a win either way. _________________ www.travistoy.com

I saw VG a few years ago here in Naples. It was a very good show and how Vince sings that high for that long (two hours!!) defies belief.
Steel? Oh yes - that time it was JayDee and I managed to have a few words with him before the show. It seems as though you can't lose if you go to a Vince Gill concert...

I should have been more specific.......if Paul is going to be with him then I would assume that Vince would feature the music of his 'Bakersfield' CD. (HEAVY on steel). The 3 concerts of his that I have gone to all had a steel player in the band but was seldom heard except for 'Look at Us'. I believe that it was Russ Pahl with him the last time I went and for the last 1/2 of the show was never heard....as a matter of fact, he was not even sitting behind the steel. If that is what it is going to be, I shall pass.
I believe that Paul and Tommy are both scheduled to be in Dallas In March at TSGA......I plan to be there. |
